Plot

'Fuck the Polis' is a cinematic work with a nostalgic and experimental tone that strays from the conventions of classic cinema to become a poetic existential journey. Inspired by a poem by João Miguel Fernandes Jorge and the idea of urban graffiti, the film proposes a journey through memory, nature, and creativity that transcends simple linear narration.

The story revolves around Irma, a woman who, twenty years ago, embarked on a journey to Greece convinced that her days were numbered due to a terminal diagnosis. Two decades later, believing she has survived what marked her, she sets out on that same path again, this time accompanied by three young people. Together they travel through Greek islands, driven by a longing for beauty, clarity, and creative freedom, immersing themselves in readings, conversations, music, and landscapes that merge under the Mediterranean sky and sea.

Far from a conventional plot, the film integrates dance, sound, ancestral traditions, and philosophical reflections to weave a sensory experience. The itinerary becomes an audiovisual choreography where personal and collective memory dialogues with the history of Western civilization and the idea of returning to the essential. Irma and her companions feel the passage of time, the urgency of beauty, and the weight of history as they interact with space, with literary works, and with the contemplation of the sacred in nature.

The film was internationally recognized, winning the Grand Prize at the International Competition of FIDMarseille 2025, where it was celebrated as a work that challenges structures and explores the notion of nation, civilization, and free spirit with grace and depth.
