Actors strike
Due to the actors strike, Disney had popular characters from their theme parks as well as other movies show up on the red carpet for the premiere. This is because actors would not be promoting any upcoming films/shows during the strike.
Ryan Gosling
It was rumored that Ryan Gosling was involved in the project when Guillermo del Toro was in charge because they were both seen in the Haunted Mansion ride in Disneyland. Finally he has not participated in the film.

The Haunted Mansion ride debuted in 1969 and has been a favorite of park goers since then with it appearing in both Disneyland and Disney World.
