It's a functional story structure (...) An adventure that will conquer those who are still a bit naive. If this is your first Hellboy, it has everything to become one of your favourite ones.

Harbour makes for a formidable Hellboy (...) it?s hard to read much into a movie less invested in shrewd observations than in stuffing as much lore as possible into 120 minutes.

It?s basically a pile of origin-story gobbledygook, frenetic and undercooked, full of limb-hacking, eye-gouging monster battles as well as an atmosphere of apocalyptic grunge that signifies next to nothing.

Del Toro, for God's sake, come back (...) chaotic collection of action scenes, apocalyptic effects and dirty jokes with the only aim of ruining the legacy where is based on.

It's just lousy. Bloated, vastly less funny than it aims to be and misguided in key design choices even when it scores with less important decisions.
