I Am Not a Witch

The next project from the Zambian filmmaker Rungano Nyoni, 'I Am Not a Witch', of which she has also been the scriptwriter, is a co-production between the United Kingdom, France and Germany that introduces us to the life of Shula, a nine-years-old girl who after a small incident in the town where she lives, is accused of witchcraft, convicted, taken into state custody and transferred to a witch camp located in the middle of the desert. Once there, she participates in the initiation ceremony where she is informed of the rules she will have to follow in her new condition. Like the other witches, she is tied with ribbon to a tree and is told that if she tries to escape she will transform into a goat. That's when little Shula will have to decide whether to free herself or stay where she is.
