Plot
'Jonas Kaufmann: The Sound of Music' is a concert film featuring the German tenor's recital of the same name, recorded in 2024 at the acclaimed Smetana Hall in Prague. Kaufmann is one of the most prestigious and admired voices in the world of classical singing, and in this concert he pays tribute to the most famous soundtracks in film history. He is accompanied by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jochen Rieder, also from Germany.
In 'Jonas Kaufmann: The Sound of Movies', we see the musicians and Kaufmann perform magical Hollywood soundtracks, European classics and contemporary cinema, in an emotional and nostalgic experience with a brilliant performance.
This is not the first time Jonas Kaufmann has turned his concerts into feature films. He did so in 2017 with 'Jonas Kaufmann: My Italy' and in 2019 with 'Jonas Kaufmann: My Vienna'. The latter is a concert filmed live at the Wiener Konzerthaus, featuring classics inspired by the Austrian capital. Jonas Kaufmann was accompanied by soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen, once again under the baton of Jochen Rieder.
'Jonas Kaufmann: The Sound of Movies' is produced by Sony Music and will have two premieres, on 23 January and 29 January 2026.
