King of Boys

The film tells the story of a woman, Eniola Salami, who rose to power as the head of an underground band of gang-lords, making her the eponymous King of Boys. She is powerful, respected, and feared by all who know her. As well as being the leader of a band of gangs, Eniola Salami also has significant political power as a minister in Lagos, thus the director addresses the reality of political corruption in Nigeria. The film opens with a lavish birthday celebration, which shows the stark reality of the contrast of extreme wealth and dire poverty in modern Lagos.

The protagonist attempts to move on from her roots in the criminal world to gain more respect as a political force in Nigeria. It shows the struggle of a woman to gain respect and power, and the dangers of power when it comes.
