La boda

Pedro Cenjor brings us in his first work, ‘'La boda'’, a dramatic story about individual freedom and marriage.

Felisa (Elena Furiase) is a woman with a free spirit. She works as a hairdresser and lives with her mother in a small town. Her way of living does not quite fit with the environment and mentality around her.

However, after her mother's death, she continues to depend on her, specifically on her widow's pension to get by, and she accumulates a series of debts that suffocate her, making it difficult to escape that situation.

At various times, she has tried to live in Madrid; however, things never turn out as she would like, and she always ends up returning to her parents' house in the town.

She needs a solution to get back on her feet, and to escape her financial situation, she accepts a somewhat peculiar proposal. To marry Sebastián, the single son of one of her clients. They do not have a good relationship, but they do share a common goal.

Together, they plan what some would consider a master plan to stabilize their finances. They would plan their wedding, keep the money from their guests, and after a month, they would announce that the marriage is not working as they both desired and therefore they would get divorced. This way, she could free herself from the debts that bind her and could finally move to Madrid.

However, after the wedding, during their “transactional” honeymoon, their relationship takes a turn that neither of them expected. They share confidences, vulnerabilities, tensions, affections, and a bond that deepens as they get to know each other more.
