Plot
Fei is a young homosexual who works as a prostitute, a victim of a homophobic and repressive society that generates a great feeling of guilt. Although his family accepts the money he brings home, he does not approve of his lifestyle or his sexual orientation. His world collapses before the intolerance that exists in his house, so he decides to start a new life away from his family. Moneyboys is the portrait of the life of a young man who emigrates from the countryside to find life in the big city. Xaolai, a kind of mentor, instructs him in the world of prostitution, until Fei manages to gain some experience in the trade. Over time, he is reunited with a love from his youth that will make him reconsider many things. In the words of the director and screenwriter himself,
C.B. Yi, "Moneyboys may be about a very specific situation, a young man's migration from rural China, but to me it's a universal story about interpersonal relationships that could happen in many places around the world." Through this film, the Chinese director makes a tremendous criticism of the precarious situation faced by many young people who are pushed to engage in sexual practices against their will. It is also a criticism of a hypocritical society.
The film is starred by Kai Ko, Yufan Bai and Chloe Maayan.
