Plot

Second feature film directed by spanish filmmaker Fernando Leon de Aranoa in 1998 after his debut 'Family'. 'Barrio' is gray and sorry portrait of a poor area of the city of Madrid, where three friends (Rai, Javi and Manu) spend their summer days dreaming of escape from there. Meanwhile, the three boys occurrences plan according to each more absurd to try to feel alive a teenager. The girls, the money that they haven't and family problems make them emerge from a special friendship that nothing can break for more years that pass. The trio protagonist is played by Clench Cabezas, Timy and Eloi Yebra. Rounding out the cast Marieta Orozco, Alicia Sanchez, Enrique Villén y Francisco Algora, among others.

Fernando Leon de Aranoa won León de Plata in the San Sebastian Film Festival 1998 for this film.

The film won three Goya Awards in 1998: Best Director, Screenplay and Actress (Marieta Orozco).

The shooting of the film took place in Madrid's neighborhood of La Elipa.
