Night of the Reaper

'Night of the Reaper' is an American slasher-themed horror film directed by Brandon Christensen. The script is written by Brandon himself along with his brother, Ryan Christensen. Produced by Not the Funeral Home, the film premieres on AMC's streaming service, Shudder, on September 19, 2025.

Set in the 1980s in a small American town, Anytown, 'Night of the Reaper' begins with our protagonist brutally taking the life of babysitter Emily Golding. We then shift to the home of local sheriff Rodney Arnold, who is investigating a troubling case after receiving a VHS tape at his house containing a snuff film: it is Emily, the young woman we saw in the introduction.

Meanwhile, Haddie McAllister, the regular babysitter for Rod's son, calls her friend Deena Golding to cover for her since she has fallen ill. Deena agrees and, after putting the child to bed, discovers that she is being watched by someone from inside the very house…

The film stars Jessica Clement, Ryan Robbins, Summer H. Howell, Keegan Connor Tracy, Matty Finochio, and Max Christensen. It has received mixed reviews, with critics noting that it is basically an entertaining film to pass the time without too many ambitions, where its strongest element is its 1980s setting.
