One Last Deal

'One Last Deal', Finland's candidate for the 2020 Golden Globes, is directed by Klaus Härö, author of 'The Fencing Class', a film that was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2016. On this occasion, the prestigious Finnish director focuses his gaze on Olavi Launio (Heikki Nousiainen), a veteran gallery owner obsessed by a mysterious portrait, to tell us a story of personal redemption through beauty and art.

Olavi, an art dealer on the verge of retirement, has always been a man who has put his artistic interests and especially business before any other occupation, including caring for his family. At an auction, an old painting catches his eye and Olavi begins to suspect that the canvas has a value well above the initial price since its authenticity has not yet been confirmed. Olavi's business instincts kick in and he decides to take over the painting to secure his financial future.

Then his daughter Lea, whom he has not seen for years, asks him for help with his teenage grandson Otto and grandfather and grandson will undertake an investigation into the authorship of the work at the same time that the auction house conducts its inquiries about the confrontation it is unavoidable. A duel that will also force Olavi to face his own past mistakes.
