Pheasant Island

This film is the feature debut of Asier Urbieta. It is a border thriller set in the smallest condominium in the world, which gives the film its name. The Island of the Pheasants is a river islet located at the mouth of the Bidasoa and marks the natural border between Spain and France; interestingly, half of the year it belongs to the Spanish state and the other half to the French. In the film, Laida and Sambou, a couple from the area, see two people trying to swim across the river to reach the other side. In the following days, a corpse appears, but it is the exchange of sovereignty, so who is supposed to take responsibility now?

The film stars Goya Award winner Jone Laspiur ('Ane', 'Ciento volando', 'Las personas que no fuman deberían ser ceniceros', 'Negu hurbilak', 'Maixabel', 'Polvo somos') y Sambou Diaby ('Altsasu', 'Itxaso', 'Laiotz'). and Sambou Diaby ('Altsasu', 'Itxaso', 'Laiotz'). The script has been written by Asier Urbieta and Andoni de Carlos.
