Joseph Cotten plays Eben Adams, a struggling young painter with money problems. For this reason, Adams decides to visit the Gallery of Spinney and although he only sells one painting, he receives good advice: he should show more life in his work. At the same time, when he is in Central Park, a young woman called Jennie appears and her beauty impresses him.
