Queen Mother

Amel is a woman with a very strong temperament, marked by high self-esteem and great ambition for her two daughters. She and her husband, Amor, maintain a passionate and explosive relationship that often ends in discord. They love each other but argue constantly. Both have left their countries of origin (she, Tunisia; he, Algeria) to move to France and start a family, experiencing migration from different perspectives: while Amor, half deceiving himself, wants to focus on the luck they have had in raising their girls in a clean, quiet village where they can receive a good education, Amel is engulfed in nostalgia and sadness for what had always been her home. 

But their new life will begin to wobble: They are not going to renew the lease on their apartment. The solution proposed to them is to move to social housing that is 45 minutes by train from the school. Despite facing significant economic difficulties, they do not intend to leave the wealthy neighborhood in which they reside. 

At the same time, Mouna, the eldest of the two daughters, begins to have visions of Charles Martel, a legendary figure from French history who becomes a kind of imaginary friend for her.
