Sleepless City

Toni is a fifteen-year-old teenager who lives with his family in the Cañada Real. His home consists of the largest irregular settlement in Europe located on the outskirts of Madrid.

He feels proud to belong to his family made up of scrap dealers and looks up to his grandfather as a great role model whom he follows everywhere. From him, he learns to survive in an environment marked by poverty, resilience, and dignity.

However, the fragile balance that constitutes his home is threatened when the authorities announce that they will demolish the houses in the area immediately.

The community that had been a network of protection and teaching for Toni gradually fractures. While some remain steadfast in resisting and staying where they believe they belong, others seek the quickest and easiest way out of the place.

The settlement is losing its essence of home. The light goes out and darkness invades the streets. The inhabitants are driven by fears and legends of the night.

''Sleepless City'' is about a story of self-discovery, of searching for identity and what it means to belong to a place that he considered home and is gradually crumbling. A poetic story that combines the dreams of the teenager with the realism of the context in which he finds himself. At the same time, the struggle and resistance to oblivion arise with strength.
