'Supergirl' trivia and fun facts
Sasha Calle
Sasha Calle had talks with DC Studios and Warner Bros. about reprising her role from Flash (2023), before the creative change. Calle has admitted it was frustrating, since she had originally shot an ending of "The Flash" that was supposed to pave the way for future adventures as part of a multi-film contract.
1984
Supergirl's first solo cinematic appearance since Supergirl (1984).
Milly Alcock
Milly Alcock was a finalist for the title role along with Meg Donnelly, who voiced Kara Zor-El/Supergirl on Legión de superhéroes (2023) and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One (2024).
The difference
According to James Gunn, in this movie "we see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he's an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life." Gunn indicates that this incarnation is an Argo City survivor rather than being from Krypton itself, more akin to her comic book debut in 1959.
Fifth actress
Milly Alcock is the fifth actress to portray Kara Zor-El in live-action and the third in film after Sasha Calle and Helen Slater.
Jason Momoa
This marks Jason Momoa's return to DC as he previously played as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe from Batman v Superman: El amanecer de la justicia (2016) to Aquaman y el reino perdido (2023). He's also been campaigning to play Lobo for years and when he first joined DC he thought he would've been offered the part but he was offered Aquaman instead.
Woman of Tomorrow
Originally titled "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," after the comic book of the same name, written by Tom King and drawn by Bilquis Evely, which served as the basis for this film. The story updated Kara's character as a 21-year-old young woman adventuring in the depths of space.
