Its the fourth time that James Gunn and Michael Rooker work toguether. The other times were in 'Slither' (2006), 'Super' (2010) and in 9Guardians of the Galaxy' (2014).

Casting

John Gallagher Jr. auditioned for a role in a film before directed by James Gunn. He wasn't right for the part. But Gunn thought he was the best actor he had seen and vowed to work with Gallagher again.
