Plot
Justino (Manuel Morón) is 70 years old and a widower. He lives in a lonely and very large estate, cultivating his small garden and away from the world. Amira (Mina El Hammani) is a 23-year-old Moroccan illegal seasonal worker, one among many, who has come to Spain to fight for a better future.
One night, Justino goes down to the village to sell the tomatoes he has picked and accidentally hits Amira; without serious consequences, but she is left unable to work. He offers his house until she recovers. Out of pure necessity, she is forced to accept the offer, not without some thoughts crossing her mind: how risky it is to confront her world and Justino's, two people separated by age, gender, culture, and religion. She, used to flying free, sharing a house with a man who, accustomed to living alone, follows no rules other than his own.
A social drama that prominently displays an antagonistic encounter, with its confrontations and fights, with its seemingly impossible coexistence. Amid this misunderstanding, a friendship will gradually emerge that will unite them in the struggle to face, together, the inquisitive gaze of the village, which watches their relationship with suspicion.
Roberto Jiménez (screenwriter of '7 vidas' and 'Aída') directs ' The Land of Amira', his debut feature film, which, in his own words, "is a commitment to understanding each other, to knowing each other, and to respecting each other."
