The Last Viking

''The Last Viking'' is a Nordic black comedy by director Anders Thomas Jensen.

After spending fifteen years in prison for a robbery, Anker returns to a free life with a single goal: to recover the money from the heist that his brother Manfred buried to protect it. The problem is that since then Manfred has suffered a mental disorder that has made him completely lose his memory and believe he is John Lennon, which has caused him to forget not only the hiding place of the loot but also much of his own identity. 

Forced to reconnect as brothers and driven by circumstances, Anker and Manfred embark on an unusual and surreal quest to find the lost money. What starts as a simple treasure hunt soon becomes an odyssey of quarrels, childhood memories, reflections on madness, guilt, and the family bond that both unites and separates them. Along the way, they encounter eccentric and deeply human characters, dialogues filled with dry humor, and unexpected situations that explore with irony and tenderness the fragility of memory, identity, and redemption. 

''The Last Viking'' features an exceptional cast, with Mads Mikkelsen as Manfred and Nikolaj Lie Kaas as Anker. It blends drama and comedy in a modern fable that recalls both the Coen brothers and the strangest and most endearing tales of contemporary European cinema.
