The Lover of the Liberator

Directed by Rocío Lladó ('Vidas paralelas') and shown in special pass at the Casa de América in Madrid, the films tells the story of Lucía, a woman who returns to her native Lima after living seven years in Spain. However, this visit has more than nostalgia reason, Lucía has returned to her homeland to support Carmela, her sister, to prevent the former colonial family mansion is destroyed and replaced by a modern apartment building. To prevent the demolition, Lucía seeks ways to prove that the house should be considered cultural heritage of the city. Therefore, the woman initiated a thorough investigation to discover the family heritage and demonstrate that it is a historical symbol. However, it will be a surprise when she discovers that in that ancient mansion Teresa, the woman who fought for the independence of Peru and was the lover of the Liberator lived. But does that mean that Lucía is a descendant of Teresa?
