The Second Act

Florence wants to introduce her father, Guillaume, to the man she is madly in love with, David. However, young David feels nothing for the girl, so he brings along his friend Willy to try to get rid of Florence by throwing her into his friend's arms. In the end, all four characters find themselves in the middle of nowhere in a restaurant, and the absurdity soon arrives, as is often the case in Dupieux's world, the director of the film.

This is an Opening Film of the Cannes Festival 2024 with a soundtrack that turns out to be the first entirely written and directed by an artificial intelligence.

It is a comedy written and directed by Quentin Dupieux ("Smoking Causes Coughing"), considered a professional in comedy. The cast includes Léa Seydoux, five-time César nominee ('Blue Is the Warmest Color'), Vincent Lindon, César winner ('Mea Culpa'), two-time César winner Louis Garrel ('The Dreamers'), and also César winner Raphaël Quenard ('Smoking Causes Coughing') and Manuel Guillot ('Van Gogh: At Eternity's Gate').
