The Surprise

Dutch filmmaker Mike van Diem wrote and directed this romantic comedy whose loving mess starts when an eccentric billionaire decides to end his life. Jacob (Jeroen van Koningsbrugge), tired of wandering through life without feeling like a zombie, and after trying to commit suicide several times, contact a mysterious organization which helps those who wish to leave this life to achieve their goal. Thus, after contracting the service to the company requesting an unexpected death, he meets a shy young woman (Georgina Verbaan) who, like him, is choosing a coffin because she wants to end a loveless existence. This odd couple falls for each other only to discover that breaking the contract they signed is harder than they ever suspected.
