Plot

At the end of the Second World War, a German official, Ernst Graeber (John Gavin), who fought against the Soviet front he asks permission a few days to go home with his family. When he reaches the city where he was born, nothing is as it was before, everything had changed because of the bombings, poverty and terror suffered by the population. Ernst's life changed after meeting a girl named Elizabeth (Liselotte Pulver), of which he falls in love, making new things arise and to doubt the war in which he fought. A film directed by Douglas Sirk and starring by John Gavin, Liselotte Pulver and Jock Mahoney. A war drama produced by Universal International Pictures. Filmed in different places of Germany.
