The Wait

Directed by the Italian Piero Messina, who was inspired by the work 'The Life i Gave You' and the short story 'La camera in attessa' of Luigi Pirandello, 'The Wait' tells the story of a mother, performed by Juliette Binoche, who meets unexpectedly her son's fiancée. Her son is out of the town, so the mother decides to invite the girlfriend to their villa in Sicily in order to get to know her as she waits for her son to arrive and explain her a tragic fact that happened to the man.

'The Wait' was screened in the main competition section of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. In addition to the works of Pirandello, the inspiration of the director of the movie came from a story that he heard about a father that lost his son. That man avoided talking about the topic, so people around him began to act as it it had never happened.
