The Wizard of the Emerald City

'The Wizard of Emerald City. The Yellow Brick Road' (2025) is a Russian-produced film directed by Igor Voloshin and with a script by Timofei Dekin, Roman Nepomnyashchiy, and Aleksandr Volkov. It tells the story of Ellie, an 8-year-old girl. She and her loyal dog Toto end up in Oz, a magical world that the wicked witch Gingema has dragged them into to destroy the human world. In this journey along the yellow bricks, Ellie and Toto will meet numerous friends: the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. Together, they embark on a journey to the Emerald City to find the wizard Goodwin, who is both feared and praised. He is supposed to grant them their greatest wishes. 

Yuri Kolokolnikov, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Sofya Lebedeva, Egor Koreshkov, and Ekaterina Chervova are some of the protagonists of this feature film. Additionally, Denis Vlasenko provides the voice for Toto in the original version. 

This film recovers the classic 1939 'The Wizard of Oz', as many others have done before. The original feature film was also based on the children's novel by Lyman Frank Baum, 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', from 1900.

'The Wizard of the Emerald City' is distributed by PayCom Multimedia in Spain and will hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
