Plot
Poland during the 90s. A father and daughter reunite to embark on a journey together to connect with each other, resolve their distances, and reconcile with the past. Ruth (Lena Dunham), a music journalist working in the United States, is the daughter of Edek (Stephen Fry), a lovable but stubborn man who survived the Holocaust during World War II. Together, they begin this journey to Edek's hometown, where he will teach his daughter what life was like there and the different hardships the family faced at that time.
As a result of the stories her father tells, Ruth becomes increasingly curious about what her previous generations experienced and seeks to make sense of the difficulties they endured. They both find the house where Edek lived with his family, which leads him to remember once again the emotions he went through during his worst moments while he was there. This journey undoubtedly represents a moment of overcoming for the protagonists, who find an unexpected treasure in it.
Based on the novel by Lily Brett, 'Too Many Men', this dramedy is directed by Julia Von Heinz ('And Tomorrow the Whole World'), who also co-writes the script with John Quester.
