Plot
The documentary tells the story about the beginnings of the Land Art, a type of art that uses the nature as frame and also its materials (wood, sand, water, etc.) to make works of art.
In the 1960s-1970s, a group of artists who were living in New York started to experiment with these huge-scale works of art in the dessert spaces from southwest America. They were different and rebel people, and what they did was an example of change that broke all the traditional rules. They created works of art that couldn't be watched in a traditional gallery, in contrast to the paintings and sculptures.
The stars of the film are the original Land Art creators: Robert Smithson (Spiral Jetty's author), Walter De Maria (he made The Lightning Field) and Michael Heizer (Double Negative's creator). There were tension between them, because each one of them had his ideas and ambitions, but they together changed the history of art.
