During World War II an executive of Swedish descent working in an American oil company is blackmailed into working as a spy for the British allies during the Second World War. Although initially he didn't want to do the job, he falls in love and ends an agent infiltrating Nazi Germany and risking his life to save his friends. The film, written and directed by George Seaton, is the adaptation of a novel by Alexander Klein featuring William Holden, Lilli Palmer, Hugh Griffith and Carl Raddatz as protagonists.
