Uyariy (Escuchar)

After the social explosion in Peru and the massacre of January 9, 2023, in Juliaca, a group of artists from the Peruvian highlands embarks on a musical journey through the region of Puno, exploring its landscapes, traditions, and historical memory. Through concerts, community gatherings, and acts of collective creation, these musicians highlight the stories of resistance from a territory marked by centuries of repression, inequality, and indigenous uprisings. 

Each song becomes a living archive of memory, a testimony to the wounds opened by state violence and the resilience of the communities that inhabit the highlands. The documentary follows these artists as they traverse towns and cities, engaging in dialogue with residents who remember past and recent conflicts, constructing a sound and emotional map of Puno that blends traditional music with contemporary expressions. 

The camera captures both the strength of cultural manifestations and the silences that still weigh on the region, offering an intimate portrait of daily life, collective memory, and the hope that emerges from art in the face of injustice. A work that questions the official history and proposes music as a vehicle for memory, resistance, and reconciliation, showing how creativity becomes a space for testimony and social reconstruction.
