Plot
After the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975, Spain enters a new stage marked by openness and cultural effervescence. In Madrid, La Movida emerges, an artistic and social phenomenon that transforms the city into a hotbed of creativity. Music, cinema, photography, painting, and fashion blend in a climate of freedom and experimentation after forty years of repression. In this context, the Fernando Vijande Gallery becomes a nerve center of contemporary art, hosting creators who break with established norms and pave the way for unprecedented modernity.
Through its halls pass artists and personalities as diverse as Pedro Almodóvar, Alaska, and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, reflecting a plural and provocative scene. In 1983, the arrival of Andy Warhol in Madrid, invited by gallery owner Fernando Vijande to inaugurate his exhibition 'Guns, Knives, Crosses', marks a historic moment: more than 12,000 people and dozens of photographers and journalists attend the event, consolidating the artistic bond between Madrid and New York.
Alaska, a direct witness of that era and a regular at the gallery, now recovers the memories of those who were part of that close circle of both Warhol and Vijande. Through interviews and unpublished archives, the artist paints an intimate portrait of an unrepeatable time, filmed between Madrid, Barcelona, Pittsburgh — Warhol's hometown — and New York, where a parallel is established between the free spirit of The Factory and the overflowing energy of La Movida in Madrid.
