Whilst we patiently await the arrival of the second season of 'The Handmaid's Tale', the creators behind the show have recently announced there'll be a third. The Hulu produced series was praised for its first season and it even earned the title of best series at the Golden Globes and Emmy awards.

 Elisabeth Moss

News of the show's renewal came from The Hollywood Reporter, although it's not really much of a surprise given the first episode of the second season reportedly pulled in double the amount of viewers than the first (reportedly because, like Netflix, Hulu don't release exact audience figures).

At the moment, we don't know much about the third season, although it's thought it will continue the overly analysed storyline known for its frightening parallels with reality (the Trump presidency and #MeToo, anyone?). News of the second season has done little suppress the concern that the future of 'The Handmaid's Tale' is a little less fictitious than we might have been led to believe. Despite following the storyline set out by Margaret Atwood's novels, it's unknown whether that will be the case for season 3. For now, we'll have to settle for the second season of 'The Handmaid's Tale', when it finally premieres in the UK, that is.

Blumhouse & Hulu

In other Hulu news, the streaming company has gained the rights to show the full season of a new Blumhouse produced series. 'Into the Dark', a 'Black Mirror' style show, with each episode sitting independently from one another, is set to release a new film-length episode the first Friday of every month, beginning in October. The first episode of the new horror series is titled 'The Body' and will take place in Los Angeles on Halloween. The episode will be available to stream from 5th October Stateside. If the short-film of the same title is anything to go by, 'Into the Dark' is set to be a criticism of 'selfie culture'. There's no word of a UK premiere as of yet.
