On 23rd October, FOX will premiere the 8th season of its most anticipated show, 'The Walking Dead' (TWD) where we'll return to the latest fight between Ricky and the rest of the community members, and Negan and his men. The conflict will continue in this season despite the latter being bigger in number, more ruthless and well armed, leaving fans pining for the premiere next month.

 The conflict continues

According to Comic Book, the first episode of the new season will be the longest in the series yet. The show will debut on AMC a day before it premieres internationally on FOX. In the UK, TWD will air at 9pm and last approximately 76 minutes, including adverts.

The long awaited episode is directed by Greg Nicotero, the same individual behind the first and last episodes of the last season. Whilst there have been other, longer episodes in the

series, none of them have offered more violence, blood and of course, Zombies than episode 1 of season 8. In the previous season, there was a 73 minute episode, followed by two of 66 and 68 minutes, respectively.

Unexpected surprises

Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, let slip on what fans can expect from the next series in an interview with Entertainment Weekly: "It is a deeply different season premiere". The surprise doesn't end there however, because the writers, "don't tread the same ground. So you can't be prepared for it. If you thought, 'Well, I've seen this, I've seen that, so I can be prepared for what's coming next' ? no, you can't. You won't be prepared."

If we take actress, Gurira's words at face value, then we won't only see the longest episode of the series, but maybe even the most unexpected season in the show's history.
