With the beginning of New York Comic Con this month, comes the announcement that a 'Fear the Walking Dead' and 'The Walking Dead' crossover is in the works. The former show follows the story of a family during the beginning of the zombie invasion. Despite both series having very different audiences, they are each part of the same universe, so it is only inevitable that there would be a crossover between the two at some point.

Until now, the chances of a crossover have been very slim according to executive producer for both shows, Robert Kirkman, who spoke at San Diego Comic Con last June: "'Fear the Walking Dead' takes place roughly around the time of season 1 and beginning of season 2 in 'The Walking Dead'. 'Walking Dead' season 8 is taking place with the theoretical 'Fear the Walking Dead' season 7.... Right now the timelines are so different that it's impossible".

Kirkman has clearly thought a lot about the possibilities however, because the crossover is now a reality, even if the details are still a secret. "I'll say this: There are two Walking Dead shows. One character is going to go from one show that I will not name and appear on another show that I will not name", mentioned the executive producer. We don't know who, how, or when; could a 'Fear the Walking Dead' character appear on 'The Walking Dead', or the other way around?

The possibilities are endless: We might even re-encounter some characters we have lost along the way!

The news was accompanied by a new poster that links the two shows' logos:

The Fan Response

Considering 'The Walking Dead's' army of fans, it's only normal that there'd be mixed reactions on social media. For some, a crossover is the best idea of the year, whilst others aren't as convinced. The 'Fear the Walking Dead' fanbase is considerably smaller than the one of the original series, and some of the latter believe AMC have only decided on a crossover so that more people watch the spin-off.

Regardless of the reactions, the channel has decided the shows will crossover, leaving us eagerly anticipating the link. What do you think?
