The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
About the The Hunger Games saga
'The Hunger Games' adapted Suzanne Collins' novels about Panem, a ruined nation where every year twenty-four young people from the districts fight to the death in a televised spectacle. Gary Ross' 'The Hunger Games' (2012) turned Jennifer Lawrence, who would win an Oscar the following year for 'Silver Linings Playbook', into Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire who defies President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Francis Lawrence directed the rest: 'Catching Fire' (2013), the best reviewed, and the final book split in two, 'Mockingjay - Part 1' and 'Mockingjay - Part 2' (2015). The series took more than $2.9 billion and started the vogue for young adult dystopias on screen.
It returned with two prequels: 'The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' (2023), about Snow's youth, with Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler, and 'Sunrise on the Reaping', released in November 2026, which tells the Games that Haymitch Abernathy won, Katniss' mentor.
