Sinopsis
'Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime' is one of the many BBC TV adaptations of Agatha Christie's detective novels. The series was produced by Mammoth Screen in collaboration with the BBC and premiered in 2015.
It features a single season of six episodes, each adapting one of the stories starring the famous Beresford couple.
The series stars Tommy Beresford (David Walliams) and Tuppence Beresford (Jessica Raines). ABritish couple living in the English islands in the early years after the end of World War II. Their seemingly calm and normal life is disrupted after a disturbing encounter in a train carriage. This leads them into a web of intrigue, espionage, and international conspiracies.
From that moment on, Tommy and Tuppence begin to collaborate almost accidentally with the intelligence services, solving mysteries that combine real danger with situations filled with irony and lightness.
'Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime' combines thriller and humor to achieve the espionage and suspense atmosphere that characterizes Agatha Christie's stories. It maintains the classic spirit of her tales, but with a pace and staging accessible to contemporary audiences.
Although its run was brief, it had a positive impact among critics and the author's followers, being praised for its carefully crafted period setting, the chemistry between its protagonists, and its light and entertaining tone.
The series also features other renowned actors and actresses, such as Clarke Peters ('The Wire'), Alice Krige ('Thor: The Dark World'), Ed Speleers ('Downton Abbey'), and James Fleet ('Four Weddings and a Funeral').
