Sinopsis
'Californication' is a series from the cable channel Showtime created by Tom Kapinos, executive producer of series like 'Dawson's Creek'.
It was produced by Showtime in collaboration with And Then Productions and aired from 2007 to 2014, over seven seasons and 84 episodes. Since its premiere, it stood out for its provocative and openly sexual tone, and became one of the network's most iconic series and a portrait of existential emptiness, hedonism, and creative crisis in contemporary Los Angeles.
Its impact was notable both for its style and for its main character, which earned David Duchovny a Golden Globe for Best Actor in 2008. Alongside him, the cast included Natascha McElhone, Evan Handler, Pamela Adlon, and Madeleine Martin, among others.
We follow the misadventures of Hank Moody, a frustrated writer who, after suffering from writer's block upon finishing his latest novel, decides to leave his peaceful home in New York to settle in the city of Los Angeles.
With his journey, he aims to solve all his woes; however, his problems with alcohol and drugs, as well as his continuous slip-ups with women, will ultimately separate him from his family, consisting of his wife Karen and his daughter Becca.
He will attribute all the blame for his inability to stay connected to his loved ones to consequences that come from the outside, being unable to realize that the main changes must come from within himself. Hank Moody finds himself on the brink of self-destruction and is unable to say no to temptation. ¡
