Modern Family

‘Modern Family’ was created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan, and produced by 20th Century Fox Television along with Steven Levitan Productions. It is a series from the ABC network and is available on Disney+ Spain.

It uses humor to explore the relationships within the Pritchett-Dunphy clan, composed of three family units living in Los Angeles, California. 

The Dunphy family consists of Phil and Claire, parents of Luke, Alex, and Haley. The Pritchett family includes Jay, Claire's father, his wife Gloria, and Manny. Finally, Cam and Mitchell, a gay couple and adoptive parents of Lily, complete the third family unit. 

The three families represent different models of contemporary life: one more traditional, another reflecting the cultural clash of immigration in the United States, and a third built by a same-sex couple.

It aired from 2009 to 2020, completing a total of 11 seasons and 250 episodes. During its run, it was widely recognized for its innovative mockumentary format and for addressing family themes with humor, empathy, and a modern narrative style.

The series had a significant impact on its audience and became a benchmark of contemporary television comedy. It won numerous awards, including twenty-two Emmy Awards, among which is the award for Best Comedy in five consecutive years.

Its widespread acceptance is due to its ability to combine laughter with positive messages about diversity, inclusion, and family values, which sets it apart from other television series that showcased a more individualized modern family structure.

The main cast includes Ed O’Neill (Jay Pritchett), Sofía Vergara (Gloria Pritchett), Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett), Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker), Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphy), Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy), Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy), and Rico Rodriguez (Manny Delgado).
