All the actors made a pact since season 1 to always submit themselves to the awards as Supporting actor/actress, never Leading.

For the first two seasons, Cam and Mitchell's daughter, Lily, is played by a set of twin girls named Ella Hiller and Jaden Hiller. They are not given an on-screen credit.

The concept of the serie was influenced by the French mockumentary serie "Fais pas ci, fais pas ça" created in 2007.
