Entrevías

'Entrevías' is a Spanish drama and social thriller series that portrays the generational and cultural clash in a working-class neighborhood of Madrid marked by insecurity, drug trafficking, and neighborhood tension.

The series was created by David Bermejo and produced by Mediaset España in collaboration with Alea Media. It first aired on Telecinco before gaining significant international exposure after its arrival on Netflix, where it became one of the most-watched Spanish titles.

The story follows Tirso Abantos, a solitary and tough war veteran who runs a hardware store in the Entrevías neighborhood. His life takes a turn when his granddaughter Irene, a rebellious and vulnerable teenager, moves in with him after family troubles. What begins as a complicated cohabitation eventually turns into a protective bond when Tirso decides to confront the gangs and criminals threatening the young woman's environment on his own, initiating a personal struggle that drags him into a world of violence, corruption, and moral dilemmas.

It has four seasons, which aired between 2022 and 2024, and they develop the protagonist's evolution and the deterioration (or transformation) of the neighborhood, delving into themes such as immigration, marginalization, family, vigilante justice, and the consequences of violence. The series combines intimate drama with elements of action and suspense while maintaining a realistic and emotional tone focused on human conflicts.

The cast is led by José Coronado as Tirso Abantos. He is joined by Nona Sobo as Irene, Luis Zahera as the corrupt police officer Ezequiel, and a large ensemble that includes Felipe Londoño, Laura Ramos, Manuel Tallafé, and Itziar Atienza, among others. 

Thanks to its raw portrayal of urban reality and its blend of family drama and thriller, 'Entrevías' has established itself as one of the recent phenomena in Spanish fiction, both for its good audience ratings on television and its strong presence on platforms. It has connected with an international audience drawn by its direct tone, complex characters, and social perspective.
