La cocinera de Castamar

'The Cook of Castamar' is a Spanish romantic drama series set in 18th century Madrid, which combines palace intrigues, class conflicts, and an intense love story marked by the social conventions of the time. 

It is based on the homonymous novel by Fernando J. Múñez and was produced by Buendía Estudios in collaboration with Atresmedia Televisión, premiering on Antena 3 and later distributed internationally through Netflix, where it significantly expanded its reach.

It follows Clara Belmonte, a young woman with exceptional cooking talent who suffers from agoraphobia after the traumatic death of her father. Her life changes when she starts working in the kitchens of the Duke of Castamar's palace, Diego de Castamar, a nobleman who is also marked by his own past. 

Between them, an impossible relationship will emerge, conditioned by rigid class differences, social pressures, and a complex web of secrets, political conspiracies, and personal ambitions that threaten to separate them.

The series has a single season of 12 episodes, as a closed story that fully develops the arc of its protagonists. 

The cast is led by Michelle Jenner as Clara Belmonte and Roberto Enríquez as the Duke of Castamar. Alongside them are Hugo Silva, Maxi Iglesias, Silvia Abascal, Fiorella Faltoyano, Nancho Novo, Paula Usero, and María Hervás.

It achieved significant impact, especially after its arrival on Netflix, where it ranked among the most-watched series in several countries. 

The production was well received for its careful setting, costume design, and its blend of romance, historical drama, and elements of intrigue. 

It is considered one of the most outstanding Spanish period fictions of its year, as it demonstrated the international appeal of the genre and of national historical productions.
