Percy Jackson and the Olympians

'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' is the ambitious television adaptation of the popular literary saga by Rick Riordan, produced by Disney Branded Television and 20th Television for the Disney+ platform. 

It features Riordan himself as executive producer and screenwriter, seeking to offer a version that is more faithful to the books than previous film adaptations.

Its first season, released in December 2023, adapts The Lightning Thief and consists of eight episodes, with a confirmed second season that will continue the story following the structure of the literary saga.

The series follows Percy, an apparently normal boy who discovers that he is a demigod, the son of Poseidon. From that moment on, his life takes a radical turn: pursued by mythological creatures and accused of a theft that could unleash a war among the gods, he must embark on a dangerous mission with his friends Annabeth and Grover to restore balance in Olympus and find his place in a world where destiny weighs as much as divine blood.

The cast is led by Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, accompanied by Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. The adult cast includes actors such as Lance Reddick (Zeus), Toby Stephens (Poseidon), Virginia Kull (Sally Jackson), Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus), and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hermes), adding dramatic weight and recognition to the production. 

The series has had a notable impact within Disney+'s youth and family catalog, ranking among the most-watched titles on the platform and generating strong conversation among fans of the books and new audiences. Critics have particularly praised its fidelity to the original material, its focus on the diversity of the cast, and its commitment to a tone that combines adventure, humor, and themes such as identity, belonging, and acceptance of one's differences.
