Sinopsis
‘Scorpion’ is an American series produced by CBS Television Studios along with Universal Television and aired by the CBS network. It was created by Nick Santora, who is also responsible for shows like 'Vegas' and 'Prison Break'. It is loosely inspired by the life of Walter O’Brien, an expert in computer science and cybersecurity.
The series follows the life of Walter O'Brien (Elyes Gabel, 'Game of Thrones') a genius with an extraordinary IQ who leads a team of brilliant minds tasked with protecting the world from global threats related to computer science, technology, and engineering.
Although his technical ability is outstanding, his lack of social skills poses a constant challenge both at work and in his personal life.
This team consists of Paige Dineen (Katharine McPhee, 'Smash'), a workplace and social communicator; Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick, 'True Blood'), Scorpion's supervisor; Toby Curtis (Eddie Kaye Thomas, 'American Pie'), a Psychiatry expert; Happy Quinn (Jadyn Wong, 'Cosmopolis'), a mechanic; and Sylvester Dodd (Ari Stidham, 'The Crazy Ones'), the human calculator.
'Scorpion' aired from 2014 to 2018 and had a total of four seasons. During its run, it achieved a solid audience and became one of the most popular tech series in American prime time.
It stood out for its frenetic pace, its plots based on scientific challenges, and its accessible tone for the general public. Its impact was reflected in the popularization of the “misfit genius” profile as a television hero and in the interest in technology and cybersecurity, although it received criticism for its lack of scientific rigor.
