'Sense8' trivia and fun facts
Instead of hiring directors to film individual episodes, the producers hired directors to film the individual locations. The Wachowskis directed all scenes set in Chicago, San Francisco, London, and Iceland; James McTeigue directed all scenes set in Mexico City and Mumbai; Dan Glass directed all scenes set in Seoul; and Tom Tykwer, who had co-directed El atlas de las nubes (2012) with The Wachowskis, directed all scenes set in Berlin and Nairobi.

Because the series takes place in so many different locations in eight different countries around the world, by the end of the shooting, the cast and crew had completed 100,000 miles of flight time, the equivalent of going around the globe four times.
Many actors have actual resemblances with their characters. For example, Sun was born in Seoul and Wolfgang was born in east Germany, just like the actors.
According to Brian J. Smith, Lana (Wachowski) thinks all the main characters are pansexual.
The mural behind Wolfgang's uncle's desk is the same mural used in opening credits of the HBO series, "The Leftovers"
The 'Twin Peaks' sign seen in the opening credits is a nod to the show of the same name, where members of 'Twin Peaks', WA experience certain psychological connections following the death of Laura Palmer.
The season was originally 10-episode long, but when the creators realized how much footage they had (the pilot was 105 minutes long at first), they asked Netflix to let them space it up into two more episodes.
This marks the second collaboration of Tuppence Middleton and the Wachowskis, the first being Jupiter Ascending. Doona Bae was also in Jupiter Ascending as a bounty hunter hired by Tuppence Middleton's character. Doona Bae also played multiple parts in Cloud Atlas, which makes Sense8 her third collaboration with the Wachowskis.
All of the episode titles are lines from their respective episodes and are usually said by characters in the pivotal scene of the episode.
