Ironically, DC Comics canceled the Supergirl comic book title close to this series' premiere in 2015. It was announced the following year that it would return as part of the "DC: Rebirth" event (as "Supergirl: Rebirth"), incorporating many elements of this series.
Melissa Benoist is the second 'Glee' cast member to star as a DC comics superhero. Grant Gustin portrays the title character in 'The Flash'.
