Biography

Alberto Rodríguez was born on May 11, 1971, in Seville. He studied image and sound at the Faculty of Information Sciences at the University of Seville. In 1997, he premiered his first short film: 'Banco', which won 15 awards, allowing him to release a new version in cinemascope in 1999. In 2000, he presented his first feature film 'El factor Pilgrim', for which he received a Special Mention from the New Filmmakers Jury at the San Sebastián Festival. In 2005, he premiered '7 vírgenes', a film that established him as one of the most promising directors in Spanish cinema. 'Grupo 7' was released in 2012, receiving 16 Goya Award nominations, but only winning two. He directed four episodes of the television series 'Hispania, la leyenda'. In 2014, he premiered 'La Isla Mínima'.
