Fahim is a kid who will travel to Paris with his father and who will to become the champion of the chess world with the help of Sylvain, his coach.
Based on a true story, this film tells the life of young Fahim Mohammad, a boy from Bangladesh who will be forced to escape from his native country with his father to take refuge in Paris. However, it will not be easy for father and son to survive in the Parisian city, since it will be very difficult for them to achieve political asylum. His father will do everything possible to survive in the city, but it will be difficult for him to get accommodation and he will have to live on the street with practically nothing to feed his son. But his son Fahim has a hidden talent: chess. As a result of this, he will meet Sylvain, the character portrayed by Gérard Depardieu, one of the best chess players in France and with whom he will establish a marvelous friendship. This will make Sylvain begin to teach Fahim, with the intention of training him to participate in the French Chess Championship. If he becomes a champion, it will be the only possibility of being able to remain in the country and that neither he nor his father is expelled of the city.
The film is directed by Pierre-François Martin-Laval and stars Gérard Depardieu, Ahmed Assad, Isabelle Nanty, Mizanur Rahaman and Martin-Laval himself.
