Patrolman Mike Chandler, played by Nicolas Cage, has lost his wife of thirty years because of cancer. His difficulty in expressing her emotions has spoiled the relationship with her daughter Lisa. Mike's patrol partner is his son-in-law Steve, who reveals to him that Lisa is pregnant. Both are involved in a violent bank robbery that takes them to the limit and puts their life in danger.

Inspired by one of the longest and bloodiest events in police history, the film tells how Officer Mike Chandler and a young civilian are facing a tremendously dangerous event for which they are not prepared.

This film is the sixth collaboration of Nicolas Cage with the studio Millenium Films after The Wicker Man, Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans, Drive Angry, Trespass and Stolen.
