Plot

Yuriko's advanced age begins to make a dent in her and begins to deteriorate rapidly because of the dementia she suffers from. For his son Izumi, this is extremely painful, so he tries to transmit to his mother the memories that have lived together that, for him, remain as present as when he lived the experience that originated them. But as always, memory also inhabits dark and bad memories that we would not always like to remember. One of these dark memories haunts and torments Izumi, one that transports him to the day he thought his mother had disappeared.

'A Hundred Flowers' is the feature debut by Japanese producer, screenwriter and writer Genki Kawamura. After premiering in the direction in 2018 with his short film 'Duality', this year brings to the big screen the film adaptation of his own novel 'Hyakka', which is inspired by his own personal experience, since his grandmother began to suffer from Alzheimer's seven years ago.

This drama makes a journey through memory and memories, in a delicate and familiar way showing the relationship between mother and child. The film stars Mieko Harada ('Akira Kurosawa's Dreams') as Yuriko and Masaki Suda ('Death Note. The New World') as Izumi, sharing cast with Yuka Itaya and Masami Nagasawa, among others.
