Plot
'Private Life' is the new film by Rebecca Zlotowski, a French director known for other titles such as 'Grand Central' and 'Other People's Children'. This time, Zlotowski tells the story of a highly reputable psychiatrist, Lilian Steiner. After the mysterious death of one of her patients, the professional begins a private investigation into the case. She is convinced that it is a murder.
Jodie Foster plays this esteemed psychiatrist, navigating between the most intimate performance and the professional background required for her role. Foster will have to tackle guilt, insecurity, fear, and suspicion in this dramatic feature film with a mystery twist. The character ultimately faces herself in what will be overwhelming sequences of investigation and intrigue. The cast includes figures such as Daniel Auteuil, Virginie Efira, Mathieu Amalric, Vincent Lacoste, Luàna Bajrami, Frederick Wiseman, Aurore Clément, and Irène Jacob, among others.
'A Private Life' has a script by Zlotowski along with Anne Berest. The title is inspired by the homonymous film by Louis Malle, which obsessed the director for so long. The feature film is produced by France 3 Cinéma and Velvet Films. Caramel Films will distribute it in Spain, where it will hit theaters on December 19, 2025.
