Al ritmo del agua

'To the Rhythm of Water' is the film debut of Colombian filmmaker Juan Felipe Bernal Vargas. In this first film, Bernal Vargas addresses intrafamily relationships, illness, identity, and the meaning of human existence. The story centers on Paula, a professional swimmer in the midst of recovering from a shoulder injury that prevented her from being part of her country's national team. This process is lengthy and complex, leading Paula to confront problems with her family, particularly with her mother who is suffering from Alzheimer's. Faced with her mother's memory loss, who does not remember Paula, she begins to question her own identity, her purpose, and place in life. 

'Al ritmo del agua ' reflects, with a stifling and intimate tone, the emotional abuse Paula suffers, the absence of the father figure, and the enormous efforts she has to make to return to the national swimming team (she will even have to take steroids to speed up her recovery). The problems will not cease, and Paula will find herself caught in a vicious cycle of complex situations that will lead her to total exhaustion. 

Juan Felipe Bernal Vargas is at the helm of direction and also the script. The cast of 'To the Rhythm of Water' includes performers such as Alfredo Aguilar, Paola Duarte Giraldo, Andrés Mavioly, Carolina Olaya, and Juliana Velásquez. The film premiered in 2023 in Colombia and arrives in Spain with Moon Entertainment on February 13, 2026.
