Plot
Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger) is now the mother of two children: Billy, nine years old, and Mabel, four. The protagonist not only has to deal with being a single mother, but she also has to face leaving Mark behind (Collin Firth), who passed away four years ago on a humanitarian mission in Sudan.
This is why she decides to sign up for a dating app, an aspect that will bring her many headaches and comedic situations worthy of a romantic comedy of such high caliber as this. Nevertheless, her love life will remain as crazy as ever, as she starts dating the character played by Leo Woodall ('The White Lotus'), a guy twenty years younger than her.
Michael Morris, who has already played with the genre in 'About Time', takes the reins as director in this fourth installment, while Helen Fielding, the author of the book series that the films are based on, writes the script for it. Additionally, Chiwetel Ejiofor joins the cast as Billy's Science teacher.
Other actors who have already appeared in the series return once again in this new installment. Emma Thompson reprises her role as Dr. Rawlings, while Hugh Grant returns as Daniel Cleaver after not appearing in the third film. The actor has revealed that he himself sat down with the writing team to outline his character.
